| Nadddddddda ! Ohhhhh, shit! I wanted to tell you that BLAST! went OFF !! We got there around 11 and there were tons of cars everywhere, so we knew the party had to be off the hook. It was nice to know that there are so many heads out there down with hearing "Techno" all night long. After a short wait, we left the dark and grimy streets of downtown LA, and entered the dark and grimy little venue nestled within. We paid a modest $13 cover (with exact change) and picked up little lollipops to start the night off right (they weren't dosed). Anyway, I could just tell that this was going to be a great party, so I took my time getting all the way inside. First I chilled-it outside for a minute, in the backyard of the house the party was at. Eventually, I made my way into the first room, which was complete with all kinds of crazy day glow paint all over the walls, but more importantly, |

a bar!! I que up, and shortly there after, ordered my first Redbull + Vodka ($6-). I was in awe at what a dope little party I found, and that everyone was so cool. There were a lot of old school heads, and in many ways, the vibe reminded me of the first party I ever went to. Everyone was super nice and friendly, and most importantly, there were no bad attitudes. Everyone knew that the idea behind this party was to recreate a rave from back in the day, before Jungle, before Trance, before Hardcore existed. A party from the past, when there was was just Techno, and all of the ravers listened to a narrower variety of records. After I finished my first of three RB&Vs, I entered the room with the speakers and the DJ. There were cute cartoons (not anime, more like play school) projected onto different parts of the room, and there was even a huge circuit board projected onto the wall near the DJ. Throughout the party, you could come up on a variety of decorations, that were not only enjoyable then, but could also fit into your pocket so you could enjoy them anytime. (But the "People Who Love You" don't care if you pocket the stuff, that is the whole reason why this was such a cool party.) |

| It was a small room, with just one DJ for the entire party, but it was set up in a way that created two areas. One was the area in front of the DJ, which was loud and lightly crowded with people dancing and watching the DJ. The other area was closer to the entrance. It was louder and roomier, so at first everyone there was dancing. As the night went on, and the constant thump of TECHNO! pounded and pounded and pounded it's way into our brains, people began to synchronize and face the speaker, bobbing their heads in unison to the BWOOPMP BWOOPMP BWOOPMP BWOOPMP.... of the night. I won't try to describe the music, but I will say that it was even better than I expected, and it got better all night long. Holy Shit! We were actually listening to old school TECHNO! I got to hear a bunch of records that were on an old Scott Henry tape that my friend (who got me into partying) gave me back in the day. He got it when he first got into partying, and even then it was considered old. It was nice to hear those old records, since I hadn't listened to any of them for a long time, and I had never listened to them on a big, loud system. Even now, I can happily hear "da dada da dat, da dada da da da da dat .. two bad mice" drowning out the jungle that is permanently stuck in my head. |
