If you are serious about raving, you really need a GPS.

My first rave, I remember it well. It was a long drive to find that Roller skating rink in the Poconoes, but it didn't have to be. We were so lost that it took us over 7 hours to find the venue, which was about 2 hours away.

I can sincerely say that having a Garmin GPS is by far the best investment any raver can ever make.

I bought mine because I needed it for work, but have since found that it is far more useful for finding parties. I paid over $300 for my Garmin C530 in 2006, and it has really changed raving for me. No longer do I get lost for hours on the way to parties, and better yet, when I do make a wrong turn or need to take an alternate route because of traffic or an accident on the freeway, my GPS just recalculates and finds another route.

Another nice feature is that I always know exactly when I am going to get to a party because the GPS give me an approximate time that is usually accurate within 5 minutes.

I now have a Garmin 265WT, and that also lets me know about any traffic that may be on my route.

Yet another reason to have a GPS is to find the nearest Denny's Restaurant, which are of course open 24 hours. I don't usually suck up to big corporate restaurant chains, but Denny's has come through for me on more than a few occasions.

Popular Brands of GPS: Garmin, Tom Tom, Sony, Magellan

Things to consider: Just get the cheap one. If you can't find a party with even the most basic GPS, just stay home. None of the fancy features make GPS any better, in fact most of them make GPS worse. If you like the LCD Screen, and it is one of the popular brands, you should be fine.

Many cell phones has GPS functions, and of course the iPhone has GPS, but I recommend a stand alone model that is about $100. That way you can still talk on the phone while you are in the car.
